The standing posture of Goddess Shakti is worshipped in this temple, where she is known as Goddess Purhuthika. It is believed that her left hand had fallen at this location and Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Kukkuteswara Swamy. The temple is gifted with a sacred pond called “Padagaya Sarovaram,” and many devotees take a holy dip in it to cleanse the karma of their ancestors or departed souls, as well as to rid themselves of the sins of the past. It is believed that by doing so, one can be blessed with desires in life, family bondages, good health, and prosperity.
